Thanksgiving break

We only had one day of class last week and all we did was go over what was due next monday. Also we had class time to work on our last revised paper. Really short blog this week hopefully this upcoming weekend will be more exciting.

Week 12

I enjoyed this paper and believe that many of the things she says are true, but the thing I disagree most with is the fact that she has to got out of the country to learn new things and appreciate things more. I mean there are people in America who go hungry at night and have to worry about where they are gonna sleep at night. Other than the fact that she had to go out of the country to gain a new respect for things I totally agree.

Friday

This week in English we only meet one time, but we talked about our next project. I am looking forward to writing this because it was something that was a big part of my life in highschool.

Friday

Friday's class was pretty fun i mean i sat down and was on a roll with my timed writing and then....for about the sixth time this year the K/E fire alarms staring ringing. I was like wow really one paragraph left with about ten minutes left in class and i have to leave for some bull crap fire alarm. So i came back in was told i would be able to finish on monday and was late to my next class(which was cancelled). LAME

Funny thing is Sunday at about 11 am the fire alarms went off and i was not about to get up for those so i just locked my door and went back to sleep. I know this is a bad idea but ill know its serious if i hear people running and sreaming.

And sorry this was late i was just SO PUMPED Bret Farve won today.

This week in English

I watched an amazing Documentary on VH1 about diamonds. It featured 4 different rappers who went to Sierre Leon and witnessed first hand how the war affected all the people. Beah went with them and showed them all the different cities. I thought it was cool to see how the rappers reacted to everything.

English 101 so far

So far this year I have been extremely sick and have missed a lot more classes then i would have liked, but I really couldn't control that. This class I actually don't mind coming to. The professor is really good at getting students to understand everything about the topic which we are discussing. I also fell that I am getting better as a writer.

Art Museum paper

I just got done with my english paper and let me just say I truly enjoyed it. I enjoyed doing the research because my research was all at the museum. The guide told me all i needed to know to wright what I thought was a good paper. I cant wait to hear some feedback from the class about it.

Boston Red Sox

So I am a HUGGGGGE Boston Red Sox fan. and this week they started the playoffs. I had high hopes for them, but what do they do? They get swept in the first round by the Angles. I mean come on Red Soxs you played HORRIBLE. I guess there is always next year. :(

Other than baseball ending college basketball is about to begin. Now I think I am a bigger college basketball fan than another person you will meet. It gives you the NBA feel but the kids actually try every game. It is high paced and exciting and i enjoy it alot. GO HEELS

Editing papers

This week in class we spent a lot of time editing each others papers. I had the privilege to edit Olivia's Air Jam paper. I really enjoyed how she incorporated her own personal experiences in dance into the paper. I fixed some common grammar errors but other than that i really enjoyed reading it and cant wait for the final draft.

Oct 16

This week in class we had a special guest speaker. I thought the slide show was awesome. It is really hard to grasp that there was so much killing in that country when you take a look at the beautiful weather they seem to have. Also i thought it was funny how they only had one place to get cold drinks in the whole city. That just goes to show how good we have it in America. I can get up right now take to steps and get a cold drink, but they only have ONE place that is just hard to imagine. I loved the story about the little kids who had never seen a white man before and wanted to touch him. If i had the chance to go and help out people in dire need like they where i go in a hearth beat.

Course Goals

I have set some goals for this English class that I believe will be challenging and satisfying. English is by far not my best class, and since this English class focuses on one of my least favorite things to do the goals I have set will challenge me.

My first goal is to show up to every class. In high school I hated getting behind and playing catch up so this goal will help me focus on staying on top of my attendance. My next goal is to develop my skills as a writer. Writing isn’t my favorite thing to do and I am not really that good at it. So this goal will help me now and in the future when I go into the work place. My next goal is when I do write not to make as many mistakes in the paper as I have in the past. This will better help me again now and in the future.

My final goal is to not only pass this class but to do it with at least a B or higher. I have managed this in my past English classes and have no intent to drop below that now.

College is going to be a fun and challenging experience that I look forward to, and by setting theses goals I will get a better satisfaction out of it. These goals will help keep me on track and focus much more than I did in high school. When and if I do complete these goals I will leave the class, not only one step closer to graduating, but with the felling that I did something and did it well.

Sept 25

Friday, we went to the art museum. This was exactly where I was supposed to go for my project so it helped me out a lot. I actually enjoyed it, i learned a lot about art and how to look at it and learn eveything about the art. You just to learn about the art you learn about the people which is really cool. I actually enjoyed going and I look forward to going back for more research soon.

Blog Catch Up....

I dont know why doing something is so hard for me to remember to do one simply thing once a week but this blog has slipped my mind for the last 3 weeks. Lets start off with what I remember from class last week. Well I was sick, not just sick, this is THE WORST i have ever been sick. It started off as just as simple allergies, which i get at every change of season. After about a week it got really worse. I went home last Thursday to go to the hospital. I got tested for H1N1 which came up negative. After spending the weekend at home I came back felling better. The I woke up on Monday with a TERRIBLE earache. Now let me give you a past history of my medical experiences with my ears. When i was born about two weeks after i was born i had my first set of tubes in my ear. Then when i was about eight the doctors found a growth in my ear. I had surgery to get that removed. Then my doctor found something strange wrong with my ear. It was my ear drum it was placed the wrong way. Heres a picture ) <----normal ear drum shap, ( <----my ear drum shape. This was a bigger operation then I thought it was. When i woke up i ended up with a huge wrap on my ears, and a giant scar around my ear. Anyway, back to the story that was Monday, so my mom came up to take me to the doctor again. So i got told i had a double ear infection and that added about 3 more pills to my already staggering anti biotic collection. So that has been my last two weeks nothing but coughing, sneezing, aching, sickness. Hopefully i'll fell better by Wednesday.

High School vs. College

High school can not compare to college on any level. College is like school but not like school its different in so many aspects but familiar in many. The main difference from high school is that there is no parents to make you do anything. You are on your own for everything. There is no "bedtime" so you are free to do whatever you want. College is also different from high school because your teachers are not there to babysit you. If you do not do an assignment your teachers are not going to call your parents about it. You will just simple be given a zero. College is a new experience that can change you as a person. I can not wait to see what the next three years has in store.
